Martina Mariea Schiff was born in Sharon, KS in 1966 and discovered country music at a young age through Martina McBride father. Martina McBride was married to soundman, John McBride and the couple moved to Nashville where John worked for artists like Charlie Daniels and Ricky Van Shelton. Martina worked as a demo singer. Martina McBride husband, John recorded and produced Martina McBride demo tape which got the attention of RCA Records with which Martina McBride signed in 1991. John had signed on as production manager for Garth Brooks, which helped land Martina an opening slot on tour with Brooks.

Martina McBride duet with pianist, Jim Brickman, "Valentine" went Top Ten and crossed over to become Martina McBride first big hit on the Adult Contemporary Charts. "Evolution" sold over two million copies and launched Martina McBride into stardom.
