The Black Eyed Peas (BEP) are the premiere hip-hop group with will.i.am, apl.de.ap. Taboo, and Fergie. The group formed in 1995 and have already sold over 23 million albums. "Where Is the Love?" put then at the top of the charts worldwide. Monkey Business went triple platinum and they held the top two spots on the Hot 100.
will.i.am, and apl.de.ap were in Atban Klann before BEP. BEP performed on Oprah in Sept. 2009 for her kickoff party. There was a flash mob of over 21,000 dancers dancing to the live performance of "I Gotta Feeling".
In the beginning the BEP wanted Nicole Scherzinger of the Pussycat Dolls but she had prior commitments. Stacy 'Fergie' Ferguson joined the group in 2003. Their 2003 album Elephunk featured Justin Timberlake on the single "Where is the Love?". Justin Timberlake had just split with Britney Spears at the time of the recording. Jack Johnson played the acoustics in the 2005 Monkey Business single "Gone Going".
The Black Eyed Peas performed their version live of "Power to the People" on the UK televisiontogether with John Legend and Mary J. Blige.
