Melissa Viviane Jefferson, aka Lizzo, was born April 27, 1988), is a singer-songwriter, rapper, and flutist. She was born in Detroit, Michigan, and moved to Houston, Texas where she began performing. She began her recording career in Minneapolis. Lizzo released two studio albums—Lizzobangers (2013), and Big Grrrl Small World (2015). Time named her one of fourteen music artists to watch in 2014, . She released her first major-label EP, Coconut Oil, in 2016.

Lizzo was one of the hosts of MTV's 2016 live music performance series Wonderland. Lizzo is an advocate for body positivity and self-love.

She hit the "big time" with the release of "Cuz I Love You". This album reached the Billboard 200 Top five. Two hit singles: "Juice" and "Tempo" from the album di very well. Lizzo is also an actress; she served as a voice performer in the animated film UglyDolls, appeared in the crime comedy-drama film Hustlers. In 2019, Time named Lizzo as "Entertainer of the Year".
